Our poor girls

I was stuck watching this new daytime talk show Tyra, with runway model Tyra Banks. And really the show sickens me but it was that or slit my wrists watching Judge Judy, so I watched.
And at one point they brought out this girl who couldnt be more than 16, 18 at the most but it was pushing it and nit picked her face about crows feet, frown lines and the "birth" of worry lines and crap like that. There was nothing wrong with this girl, she was young, pretty and seemed to glow with that radience we find in younger women.
This specialist then proceded to tell her to put this crap on her face.

Now I know this isnt the first time its been talked about but we as Americans put TOO much pressure on our girls to be this cookie cutter ideal of a pretty girl. The ideal that only a person who is 5'8 plus and 100lbs can be a model is rediculous.
There are plenty of women of all difernt shapes and sizes that are beautiful. Now dont get me wrong, Im not advocating for a chick who's 400lbs to go out wearing a tube top and booty shorts just because she feels she is beautiful. Theres a line of having self worth and knowing that you are beautiful on the inside and outside, and just being plain disgusting.

Take myself for instance, Im about 200lbs and 5' 6".I have this sad muffin top thing going on and a big booty. Could I stand to loose some weight, Sure. But when I pick clothes for myself I try to get things that are flattering to my shape and size, not something that would look good on a scarecrow and have to spend 2 hours greasing myself with crisco to get into it just to have it pop at the seeems when I exhale.

But...I get off topic. The company Dove has been promoting its champaigne that encourages girls to be beautiful by being them selves and I say support them all you can.

Award for nothing

OK. Ill make this short and sweet. To win the Nobel Peace Prize for something you PROPOSE to do and haven't ACTUALLY done is so absurd i cant even put into words the ignorance of this whole thing.
Obama HAS NOT done anything to even remotely warrant being nominated for the award much less to receive it!!

I mean seriously, what the hell where these morons thinking, or were they even thinking at all.
And for him to come out and state that he doesnt think he deserved it but took it anyway, you know that off camera he is dancing around with a shit eating grin about the whole thing.

So based on the whole idea of how he won this award.

I propose with good intention to remove all nuclear weapons by tossing them into the sun. Now I havent even the foggiest on how im gonna do it but i think it should be done and there for I want to recieve a Nobel Peace Prize.

Over the Rainbow

Okay, I know this may be an issue thats been run into the ground one to many times over, but here it goes.

I read a news blip today on my homepage about Vermont finally allowing gay marriage. Now before anyone jumps the gun here let me state this:
I have absolutely no problem with gay marriage what so ever. I am all for it. The way I figure is is I love some one enough to want to spend my life together with them living as husband and wife, sharing wonderful and not so wondeful moments together and eventually growing old with them....

Why the hell cant a man and a man (or woman and woman as the case may be) be as happy or as miserable in holy matramony as I am???

I think that we have got to make these political officals see that THEIR moral/religious values shouldnt dictate a decision such as gay marriage.

It all boils down to the fact that regardless of your moral/religious values the point is : Do they deserve the same treatment and recognition as any other couple?

Answer: Yes they do.

and while i run the verge of tieing to many seperate issues together i will summerize the best I can. This need to recieve the same treatment and recongintion flows over into other areas such as partners being on health care plans and adopting children.

You too can save the children...

So I was watching tv the other day and a feed the children commercial came on. Instead of the sad pictures of hungry kids from some backwater country looking into the camera crying with a voice over stating how horrible it must be to not have food or clean water...NOW it has a catchy song behind all of that and it tells you as it always has that for less than $0.80 a day you too can stop hungery for lil Chiquitabonita.

My question is this why is it that in all of these videos that we are made to feel bad about a child 10,000 miles away that didnt get to eat, go to school or have adequate healthcare, yet probably somewhere downtown there is a child that didnt get those things either?

I think that while it may sound cruel and harsh but we need to look out for the people we have here in America before we start handing over our money to help those in other countries. We have a responsibility to take care of our own people first.

Hind Sight is 20/20

In the begining, like many I was taken by Obama and convience that he and his plans would change America for the better. The arguement remains that he was voted in for his race by some and white-guilt by others, but in the end race played a larger card than what we like to admit.

But for me I voted soley on the fact that I honestly thought that we would get the things that were promised..maybe not all in the first year of his presidency but within his term.

Now I see that like many Americans we were doped by a particularly good snake charmer. The only thing I can do to back my mistake is that as an American I used my god given right to vote and yes I fucked up...royal.

Mickey Mouse would have made a better president than Obama.

So to the American People I say this " I am sorry"

Like many others in these trying days I believe that the man many of us saw as real change...will indeed be that catalyst that makes real Americans (not those mindless sheep who follow so blindly) take up arms and fight those in power and take back what is ours.

But that is a rant for another post my friends.

Till then.

Buring the spot light too long?

I dont know about anyone else but I am getting pretty tired of all the stuff of Michael Jackson. I mean ok, he died, but do we really have nothing else to report on in this world other than Michael Jackson? Im sure we do.

Dont get me wrong, he had a long career, but personally I could care less about turning to every station and having to suffer through 2-3 hours of "Michael this and Michael that" only to get thirty seconds of REAL news.

Iran and the struggle

Let me start off by giving my support to the Iranian people and my condolences to the family and friends of Neda, The girl who was slain standing up for her god given right to freedom. We as Americans know the price of freedom well enough, We know the joys of freedom even better, But when there's a country seeking the very thing we take for granted every day...We sit on our hands waggle our finger and do nothing. So...where's the change we can believe in Mr President? Your so wrapped up in your image that your afraid to let the world thinks of you as anything less then the new age messiah. The presidency of the united states is not about strutting your stuff on the catwalk..It's about being an example to the free world...Showing people that freedom is something ALL people are born entitled to and that WE as Americans will ensure that any who cry out in the darkness of oppression and seek for that light of freedom WILL find it. Mr President It's time for you to stop pussy footing around on this issue and take a stand. These people need us...Not pretty words and threats of sanctions that will not work (see North Korea) But action. Fine if the world thinks were sticking our nose where it doesn't belong...I can live with that. Listen to your people Mr. President...We see kindred spirits in these Iranian youths...Lets do something for the greater good...Lets give something back to the world. Let's set these people free!

Peace in Iran

I know this will not be the only post out there on the web concerning the the protests in Iran. But I will go ahead anyhow and speak my mind on this.

I think that we as Americans should stand behind the Iranian people and support them in their quest for Democracy. Because how can we as Americans in a Democracy sit and say that it is so great to have all the freedoms we have throught said democracy but not help and support others that wish to have the same freedoms as we do?

We have all seen the footage of Neda and others DIEING for their freedom and decmocracy...how many more have to die before not only we as Americans but we as a global community step in and say "its enough"?

Now this next part may seem harsh and you can dislike it as you want but the way I see it we have a bad habit of putting our nose in where it doesnt belong and telling people that the democratic way is the only way and that they need to make it part of their life ...wether or not they want it..BUT...here we have people who DO WANT it and we are sitting on or hands while more people die...

If this is the change that "Yes we can" make in the world is watching people die for life liberty and the pursute of happiness like i get every day and not helping them...then it makes me sad to know my vote counted for nothing.
